The NSW Department of Family and Community Services would appreciate your help to develop solutions to be included in a new NSW Carers Strategy. Carers provide ongoing, unpaid help to someone who needs it because of disability, long term or life limiting illness, mental illness, dementia and ageing.
There are more than 850,000 carers in NSW. To get involved from late next week (until the end of February) simply go to the NSW Government’s consultation website, Have Your Say www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au and click on the link to the NSW Carers Strategy consultation page. As well as information about the consultation and how we’re developing the NSW Carers Strategy, you’ll also find a link to a short online survey.
Questions are divided into five focus areas: employment, education, health and wellbeing, carer information and community awareness, and carer engagement. The results of the survey will help us to design the Strategy. Development of the NSW Carers Strategy is being led by the NSW Department of Family and Community Services, with assistance from Ministry for Health and Carers NSW.
We are working collaboratively with carers, employers, government and non-government, industry representatives, experts and researchers to develop creative ideas and innovative solutions for carers.
The NSW Carers Strategy will be launched by the Minister for Ageing and Minister for Disability Services in mid 2014. For more information about the NSW Carers Strategy visit the NSW Carers Strategy page on the Family and Community Services website www.facs.nsw.gov.au.
