What is the NSW Seniors Card?

It’s a valuable discount and concessions card - an initiative of the NSW Government to help seniors live easier and more economical lives in retirement.


What does it entitle me to?

Members get valuable concessions on NSW and interstate public transport - plus special discounts and deals on a range of products and services, from thousands of businesses across the state.


Who is eligible for it?

  • Permanent residents of NSW*
  • 60 years of age or older
  • Working no more than 20 paid hours per week

*A permanent resident is any Australian citizen or resident with a permanent visa who lives in NSW on a permanent basis. Temporary visa holders are not eligible.


How do I become a member?

Can I apply before I turn 60?

No. You must be 60 years or over to apply.


How long does it take to get my Seniors Card?

Please allow 21 days from the date your application is received for delivery of your card.


Can I use my NSW Seniors Card interstate?

Yes. Members are entitled to public transport concession fares in other states and territories. (See the Seniors Card website for the state/territory you’re visiting for details on how to access concessions there.)

Many businesses also provide discounts to interstate members on request. So be sure to ask!


What do I need to do if I change my name or address?

To change your registered name on your card, call us on 13 77 88.

(You’ll need your current Seniors Card and a valid green Medicare Card when you call.)

What if my card is lost, stolen or destroyed?

To get a new card, click here to replace your card online.


What businesses are eligible to participate and offer deals to members?

Any business or service with a good reputation and with an Australian Business Number (ABN) can apply to participate in the program.

Participation in the program is free. All you need to do is agree to offer an approved discount or benefit to NSW Seniors Card members.

Note for retailers: if you are an outlet of a multi-outlet retailer, you must be registered under the company’s Head Office. Please contact your Head Office Marketing Manager if you wish to participate.
