Gold Opal

That's exactly what you get when you use the Gold Opal Card you're eligible for as a Seniors Card member. (Please note: Senior Savers Card holders working more than 20 hours a week in paid employment are not eligible for Gold Opal transport concessions).

Your Gold Opal gives you:

  • Unlimited travel for $2.50 a day - get around as much as you want on metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter and the Illawarra. (Excludes Sydney Airport Station Access Fee). Find out more about Opal or plan a trip using Trip Planner.
  • Convenient, reusable smartcard - so much easier than buying paper Excursion Tickets each time you travel. Just load and go - or set it up for auto top-up so you never have to reach for cash again.
  • Protection - even if your card is lost or stolen, your balance is safe and secure, and can be transferred to a new card.
  • Transport concessions Australia-wide - check the Seniors Card website for the state or territory you're visiting for details on how to qualify.

You must carry your Seniors Card when travelling on a concession fare as proof of entitlement or you may be fined.

If you're an Australian resident and have a valid Seniors Card issued by an Australian State or Territory Government, you too can enjoy our best transport discounts with a Gold Opal Card.

Note: You must have a state or territory government Seniors Card. Other cards including the National Seniors Card, Queensland Seniors Business Discount Card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card and New Zealand SuperGold Card do not qualify.
