Rural and Regional Areas
NSW Seniors Card members can undertake extensive local and regional travel on CountryLink services with purchase of a CountryLink Pensioner Excursion Ticket. These provide a single journey on CountryLink country rail and coach services at a reduced fare of $2.50 in regional areas outside of the Sydney and Newcastle area bounded by Nowra, Moss Vale, Lithgow, Muswellbrook, Dungog, Karuah and Booral.
NSW Seniors Card members who travel using Country Pensioner Excursion Tickets must book and undertake their trip within seven days of the ticket purchase. Tickets cannot be used in conjunction with other CountryLink or CityRail tickets on the same service/trip to gain a cheaper fare.
Members can book by calling 13 22 32 or by visiting a CountryLink travel centre, booking office or accredited travel agent. These tickets cannot be purchased online or from CityRail stations, CountryLink travel centres or accredited travel agencies inside the CityRail area (bounded by Sydney, Nowra, Moss Vale, Lithgow, Muswellbrook, Dungog, Karuah and Booral).
Country Pensioner Excursion Tickets are intended to promote regional travel within NSW and are not for travel to metropolitan areas or interstate. They therefore do not cover travel to or from country areas into or out of the CityRail area (bounded by Nowra, Moss Vale, Lithgow, Muswellbrook, Dungog, Karuah and Booral) and are not available for travel into Sydney, Newcastle or Wollongong and related suburbs.
Similarly, Country Pensioner Excursion Tickets are not available for use on services to/from Wangaratta, Benalla, Melbourne, Beenleigh, Surfers Paradise, Robina, Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach.
NSW Seniors Card members can obtain half fare concessions for both country and metropolitan travel as well as interstate trips on CountryLink services. Half fare is also available for local rail, bus (government and private) and ferry services.
Further details can be obtained by contacting CountryLink on 13 22 32 or by visiting www.countrylink.info
Information about concessions on long distance coaches, private ferries and Great Southern Railway, should be taken up with the service provider.
