To LiveUpdate or not to LiveUpdate...

Dear NetGuide,
I use Norton Internet Security. I have been told by one source to leave the LiveUpdate option on, and someone else told me to turn it off as viruses can be downloaded with it. What is the best option?

You will have a higher chance of getting infected with viruses if you leave your LiveUpdate off. It is best to leave it on. We wouldn’t want to be in the address book of that person who told you to keep LiveUpdate off, as his/her PC must be hiding all sorts of nasties.

You should also do manual LiveUpdates occasionally. The automatic LiveUpdates only update your virus definitions. Manual LiveUpdates allow you to update the anti-virus software as well.
